Our school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) provision has a national reputation for the very highest quality. The programme has been recognised as one of the Top 10 teacher training providers in the country, and the second best primary teacher training provider nationally.
The Spencer Academies Trust places school-centred learning at the centre of our teacher training provision for one reason: we know it works. SCITT training produces self-motivated, reflective and confident teachers, who are more likely to persist, thrive and succeed in their chosen profession.
SCITT training lasts for one year, and leads to Qualified Teacher Status with the option of securing the Post-graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). In 2017-18 100% of trainees have chosen to pursue QTS with PGCE.
In 2016-17 our SCITT trainees had a 100% success rate for employment on completion of training. A significant majority of trainees were employed within the Trust or within one of our Teaching School Alliance partners.
