“An exciting and innovative curriculum…”
The George Spencer Academy has been a leading school in Nottingham for over fifty years. In 2010, the school became one of the ‘first wave’ to adopt academy status, and thereafter became the lead school for the Spencer Academies Trust. George Spencer was one of the first Teaching Schools in the country, one of the first centres for Initial Teacher Training, the lead school for the East Midlands West Maths Hub, and a centre for Leadership Development.
The quality of teaching pedagogy is correspondingly high. Results are consistently above national averages, and students facing additional challenges given the support that they need to succeed.
With a mixed secondary and sixth form provision, George Spencer was first recognised as ‘outstanding’ in 2010; and maintained outstanding status in subsequent inspections. In 2015, Inspectors concluded that ‘teachers are expert in their subjects and are highly skilled in ensuring that learning is well planned to secure outstanding progress.’
