Warm hearts, warm coats – The Spencer winter coat appeal

This Christmas, could you spare five minutes to search your cupboards and help a local family?

Spencer schools work across communities in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, supporting pupils and students from early years to young adulthood.

To help keep our growing families warm, staff in our schools have volunteered to run the Spencer Warm Hearts, Warm Coats appeal, designed to ensure all of our children and students have warm winter clothes this year.

From Friday 6 December your school will be collecting winter coats and shoes, scarves, hats and gloves meeting school dress codes to donate across our group of schools.

Items will be collected between 6 – 13 December, and will be distributed during the last week of term. All items will be offered to pupils and students in our schools across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in the first instance.

From Thursday 5 December campaign posters will be going up across schools, and parents and friends of the Trust given details of how to donate in each of our 21 academies.

To limit the need for sorting, parents are asked to only donate items that meet uniform expectations and in condition to be used by another family.

We will particularly appreciate coats that children may have grown out of, but which may have years of wear left in them. Any leftover items will be donated to Operation Orphan, a local charity working with families in Nottingham.

Toasty toes aid concentration, and being warm and comfortable in school makes a huge difference to our pupils and students. Please help if you can.

With thanks and good wishes for the holiday season.
