Spencer Academies Trust appoints new Chief Executive

Paul West has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of The Spencer Academies Trust.

Previously Executive Director of Education for the Delta Academies Trust, Mr West has over 30 years in education, including three successful headships and having served as CEO and Executive Principal with GEMS Education. Mr West is a National Leader of Education (NLE).

Mr West takes over from Dame Susan Jowett, who retired in August 2017 after a long and distinguished career in education.

Responding to his appointment Paul West said: “I am delighted to be joining The Spencer Academies Trust as Chief Executive. Everyone involved in the Trust, the Board of Directors, Executive Team, Academy Leaders and Teachers are fully committed to providing the highest quality of education for children and young people. I am also looking forward to leading the Trust through its next stage of development and growth to ensure outstanding outcomes for students across the region”

Dame Susan Jowett said: “I welcome Paul to the Trust and wish him every success in his new role as he galvanizes the collective effort of dedicated teams to provide an excellent education to improve the life chances of our young people. Executive Principals Angela O’Brien and Fraser Mitchell move into senior roles as Director of Primary Education and Director of Secondary Education respectively.
