First applications received for Chellaston Fields Academy

The first applications have been received for places at a planned primary school in Chellaston Fields.

Chellaston Fields is a Spencer Academies Trust school, and is scheduled to open in September 2019.

On completion, Chellaston Fields will provide an education for 210 boys and girls aged five to 11.

The school has been designed in response to the demand for school places, with hundreds of new homes to be built in the Chellaston area, and existing primaries nearing capacity.

A £6m building will be constructed as a dedicated facility, with Chellaston Fields expected to appeal for parents seeking a light, bright and modern learning environment for their children.

Consultation events have given families the chance to meet Principal Designate Laurie Baczynski, and to review blueprints for the school, which include extended open areas and access to outdoor learning.

Responses to plans shared at consultation have been very positive, with parents starting to enrol children immediately after meeting Mrs Baczynski.

Speaking to parent, Alex Green, who has just enrolled her son at Chellaston Fields, there is a real sense of excitement for the new school – “We’re really looking forward to the new school being built. It’ll be great to send Benjamin to a school with fewer children in each class.”

Spencer Director of Primary Education Angela O’Brien said she was enjoying every step of designing a new school. “Chellaston Fields is an opportunity to build the school around the children’s needs,” she explained. “We aim to make Chellaston Fields a wonderful environment to explore and implement our core principles and curriculum to deliver an outstanding school to the community”

Parents hoping to find more information about the school, or to enrol children at Chellaston Fields Academy, can do so through a dedicated website at www.chellastonfieldsacademy.co.uk.
