Join a local governing body in a Spencer Academies Trust school

Spencer Academies Trust schools are recruiting for local governors across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

The role of governors is to ensure that the management of the school places the interest of children and parents first, and to help maintain strong links between the school and the local community. Local governors shape the future of our schools. Together, we deliver on The Spencer Academies Trust mission: to provide an outstanding quality of education and improve the life chances of children across the East Midlands.

Schools currently recruiting for local governors include the George Spencer Academy and Fairfield Primary Academy in Nottingham; Inkersall Primary Academy in Nottinghamshire and Osmaston Primary School in Derby.

If you think you might have what it takes to be a local governor at a trust school, please register your interest through the form below before Monday 9 July.

Before taking your application any further, we will invite you to tour the school and to meet senior leaders for a discussion of the school’s strategic priorities and plan of work. Applicants may also be offered the chance to attend a scheduled LGB meeting and to see the work of current local governors in action.

Successful applicants will take up role in the 2018-19 academic year.

Please note: successful applicants will be asked to undertake standard checks for working in school, including DBS certification. It is an expectation of The Spencer Academies Trust that local governors will undertake external safeguarding training and other training as required under trust policies.
