“Pupils are cared for and given a chance to shine”

Fairfield is a large primary school neighbouring Victoria Park in the Stapleford area of Nottingham. Constructed in 1952, Fairfield has been a feeder school to the George Spencer academy for over fifty years. Relationships between the schools remain close, with Fairfield converting to academy status soon after George Spencer and becoming a founding partner of the Spencer Trust.

Fairfield was deemed to be a good school prior to conversion, and has maintained standards. A short inspection in 2016 concluded that ‘a highly effective and unified team’ supports pupils to ‘achieve well and develop independence in their learning’. Expectations are high – the school motto is ‘Shine’, which stands for success, high expectation, independence, never giving up and equality.

The school has a warm and supportive culture, which has been singled out by inspectors for praise; and a focus on attainment, with KS2 results above national averages. Pupils eligible for the pupil premium are well supported, and the school has been able to close the attainment gap between pupil groups.

Fairfield is one of only two schools in Nottingham to accept intakes at 5 and at 7.
